Time of peonies: how to extend it for loved ones
12.05.2022It is difficult to imagine a woman who would not adore these flowers - lush, airy, with a wonderful rich aroma. And men are not indifferent to them. After all, curly buds evoke the warmest associations: with last calls, grandmother's front garden, first love.
People noticed the luxury and amazing properties of peonies long ago. In China, only emperors wore clothes depicting the characteristic buds. And the Renaissance physician Paracelsus used their petals to treat despondency, migraine, fatigue and asthma.
The only bad thing is that the blooming period of these magnificent plants is limited, so you can't give them all year round. But Pro-buket knows how to extend this season and make those for whom peonies are their favorite flowers happier for longer.

Peony season in Kazakhstan
Let's be honest: flowers that can be bought in January, February, March do not evoke such stable associations and special, warm emotions. In part, we love them so much because they do not bloom for long.
Luxury Sarah Bernhardt
But not too little either. Unlike delicate lily of the valley or fragrant jasmine, you can enjoy their beauty from mid-May, all of June, and even in early July. The point is that there are many varieties with different flowering periods:
- Early varieties. These include Ophelia with red-purple buds, the cream-colored Moon Road, the unusual Athena. They bloom from the last decade of May to the first decade of June.
- Varieties of peonies with a medium blooming period (up to the 20s of June): Coral Fay, Red Grace, Coral Sunset, Iceberg, terry Festiva Maxima.
- Late-middle peonies bloom until the end of June: soft pink Sarah Bernard, Dr. G, fuchsia-tinged Neon, lush and bright Kansas, graceful Karl Clem.
- Late varieties are predominantly white: Ann Cousins, Gladys Hodson, Elsa Sass. They bloom by early July.
Bright Coral Sunset
Total: if you plant bushes of different varieties from all four groups, you can enjoy luxurious bouquets for about a month and a half.
When peonies are for sale
But the sales period of peonies in flower stores is much longer, and it is connected with the season of regal flowers in the Netherlands. You can buy peonies in "Pro-buket" from March to September. And all thanks to Dutch breeders and flower growers who have developed very early and very late varieties and create all the necessary conditions for their cultivation.

What are the differences between Dutch peonies
Flowers from the Netherlands:
- More "hardy". Varieties developed for export to other countries, well tolerate prolonged transportation and after the purchase is still long in the vase.
- More "closed." It's about the shape of the bud. Our varieties have a slightly disheveled look. Dutch varieties have a distinct spherical shape.
- Less crumbling. Buds from the cottage open quickly, and then begin to lose petals. After a couple of days, a whole pile of them lies near the vase. Dutch flowers dry up without crumbling.
Bouquets of peonies
Of course, imported flowers and more expensive. But they look great in bouquets and combine with other flowers. In the company of roses, carnations, hydrangeas peonies look harmonious and keep fresh for a long time. Lush monobouquets are also beautiful. Fashionable compositions in hat boxes or baskets in general can become an independent gift for all occasions.
Peonies in a bouquet
When you buy peonies, pay attention to the shade of the petals as well:
- Red flowers can be presented to a woman as a token of gratitude (for example, a teacher), as a recognition of merit and wishing success.
- White peonies are a symbol of girlish purity and innocence. They are often used for wedding bouquets.
- Pink ones are the best way to confess your tender romantic feelings.
Give the gift of peonies until the fall. Give joy with Pro-buket!
