Bouquet Tickling the Skin

Such irises are appropriate as a gift for a birthday or to mark an important occasion—for example, an anniversary. The bouquet will be appreciated by someone who values restrained elegance and unusual shades in flowers. Purple irises look equally good in a festive setting and in a calm home interior.

To keep cut irises fresh longer, trim the stems at an acute angle and place them in clean, cool water. Change the water every couple of days and remove wilted buds so the remaining flowers hold up better.
