What to Do If the Recipient Is Not Home

We always try to hand over the bouquet in person, but there are situations when the recipient is not there. In that case, our florist waits for 15 minutes, then calls the sender. If you agree, we can leave the bouquet at the reception (for example, in a hotel or office) or at a nearby shop. In this case, re-delivery is charged again, and the money for the first order is not refunded. Caring for Flowers at Home: Simple Tips to Make the Bouquet Last Longer

After receiving a bouquet in Azerbaijan, you want it to last as long as possible. We've put together some general recommendations to help extend the life of flowers in a vase.

First, immediately after delivery, trim the stems with a sharp knife at an angle of about 45 degrees. Do this under running water so that air doesn't get into the capillaries. Remove all leaves that might end up in the water — they rot quickly and spoil the environment. Second, choose a clean vase and wash it thoroughly with soap. Pour in settled water at room temperature. Change the water every two days, and if it becomes cloudy — immediately. Each time you change the water, trim the stems again by 1–2 centimeters.

Add special cut-flower food to the water if you have it. If not, you can use home remedies: a pinch of sugar, a couple of drops of lemon juice, or an aspirin tablet. But don't overdo it: too much sugar can encourage bacteria. It's also important to place the vase in a cool spot, away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heating appliances. Don't put the bouquet near fruit — they release ethylene, which speeds up wilting.

Mist the flowers with soft water from a spray bottle, especially in hot weather. This will help them stay fresh longer. If some flowers start to wilt, remove them from the bouquet so they don't affect the others. Some flowers, like roses, benefit from having their thorns trimmed and lower leaves removed. Tulips, on the other hand, don't like too much water — a couple of centimeters at the bottom of the vase is enough. Hydrangeas can be revived by dipping the stems in boiling water for a few seconds, then placing them in cold water. Chrysanthemums and peonies also need trimming and clean water.

If you ordered an edible bouquet, such as chocolate-covered strawberries, it's best to eat it on the day of delivery. Potted houseplants require separate care: they don't need to be put in water; moderate watering and suitable lighting are enough.
