A deep, rich burgundy hue evokes velvet and lends the arrangement a restrained solemnity. Thirty-five peony-shaped tulips form a dense, voluminous crown: the double blooms look lush, open gradually, and hold their shape even in a cool room. Such a bouquet is appropriate both for a festive day and for a quiet evening, when you want to surround a loved one with beauty without unnecessary fuss.

Burgundy tulips are chosen for birthdays, anniversaries, and declarations of love—they speak of a mature, deep feeling better than any words. The double petals look beautiful by candlelight and in soft daylight, so the arrangement is equally good in the living room, bedroom, or on a festive table. The dense buds remain closed for a long time, then open one after another, changing the bouquet's appearance.

To make cut flowers last longer, trim the stems at an acute angle and change the water in the vase every couple of days, rinsing the vessel. Keep the bouquet away from drafts, direct sunlight, and ripe fruit—this way the petals will stay fresh longer.
