The cast iron plant (Aspidistra elatior) is a hardy houseplant with large leaves. Its dense, dark green leaves form a lush clump and hold their shape even in the depths of a room. The plant is valued for its decorative appeal and low maintenance: it grows slowly but lives long and over time becomes a striking accent in the interior.

The pot is suitable for a living room, office, or hallway — anywhere with little natural light. The cast iron plant tolerates partial shade and even full shade, so it can be placed away from a window. It makes a great gift for a colleague or a loved one, as well as a housewarming present.

Care is simple: indirect light or partial shade, no direct sun. Water moderately when the top layer of soil dries out, and less often in winter. Wipe the leaves periodically with a damp cloth to remove dust.
