Aloe vera brings a sense of calm, almost medicinal cleanliness into the home — as if a little green healer has taken up residence on the windowsill. Its thick, fleshy leaves form a neat rosette and curve slightly outward, with soft teeth along the edges. In the 'Aristata' variety, the leaves are narrow and pointed; in Aloe vera, they are wider and juicier. The surface is smooth, with a light bluish bloom, and it seems to hold a coolness within.

The best spot for the plant is the brightest windowsill, where it gets plenty of sun: in shade, the rosette stretches out and loses its shape. Water rarely, letting the soil dry out completely — stagnant water in the pot is fatal. In winter, reduce watering to a minimum, and in summer, the plant can be taken out onto the balcony.

Such a flower is a fitting gift for a housewarming or for those who appreciate undemanding greenery in the interior.
