Clivia miniata is a compact houseplant with dense, strap-like leaves gathered into a neat rosette. During the flowering period, it sends up a sturdy flower stalk, on which tubular flowers open, colored depending on the variety. A young clivia looks tidy and does not take up much space, eventually growing into a lush bush.

Place the plant on a windowsill of an east- or west-facing window: it prefers bright, indirect light without direct midday rays. Clivia prefers moderate watering — moisten the soil when the top layer dries out, and drain excess water from the saucer. In winter, reduce watering, which helps set flower buds. A comfortable temperature is around twenty degrees, without sharp drafts.
