Fittonia Verschaffeltii in a 9 cm pot brings a touch of fresh greenery and subtle exotic charm to any interior. Its oval leaves are velvety to the touch, with a striking pattern: bright veins seem to be drawn across a dark green background, creating a unique design on each leaf. The plant grows as a compact bush and looks neat even in a small space.

It is best to place the fittonia in a spot with soft, diffused light — a windowsill shaded from direct sunlight or a shelf deeper in the room will work well. Water moderately, keeping the soil slightly moist: drying out the root ball is harder on the plant than a brief excess of moisture. The water should be soft and at room temperature. It is helpful to mist the leaves from time to time, as the plant responds well to higher humidity.

Such a little bush is a suitable gift for a colleague or a friend who is into indoor gardening, as well as for a housewarming.
