Aloe arborescens is a succulent with thick, fleshy leaves gathered in a rosette. The leaf blades are elongated, pointed at the tips, with a slight bluish bloom and soft teeth along the edges. As it matures, the plant forms a short stem, so its silhouette resembles a miniature tree. In variegated forms, light stripes and streaks appear against the green background, giving the bush a decorative look.

A pot of aloe is well placed on the windowsill of a south or southwest window: the plant loves bright light and tolerates direct rays well. In shade, the leaves become pale and elongated, losing their compact shape. In summer, it can be taken out onto a balcony or terrace, protecting it from drafts and rain.

Water moderately, letting the soil dry out completely between waterings: stagnant moisture in the pot is fatal to the roots. In winter, reduce watering to once every two to three weeks. A loose soil for succulents with drainage at the bottom is suitable. The plant is undemanding and suits those who are often away. A small bush in a pot is appropriate as a gift for a housewarming or birthday.
