Amaryllis bulb

A red amaryllis is appropriate for Mother's Day or Teacher's Day—a restrained yet festive gift that can be given to a friend. In a vase, the flower becomes a standalone accent in the interior: it needs no companions in a bouquet, just a few green leaves. The plant will appreciate a bright spot without direct sunlight and moderate watering along the edge of the pot.

To keep cut flowers in the vase longer, trim the stems at an sharp angle and change the water every couple of days, rinsing the vessel. Keep the bouquet away from drafts and ripe fruits.
