Cactus Cereus

probuket

The Cereus cactus is a plant with an upright, ribbed stem that over time branches and forms a characteristic columnar shape. Its surface is covered with small spines gathered in clusters along the ribs. Depending on the variety, there are Astrophytum with a spherical stem and pronounced ribs, Rhipsalis with thin branching shoots, and an Assortment of several cacti. This plant is suitable as a gift for a housewarming or birthday.

It is best to place the cactus on a well-lit windowsill — with sufficient light, the stem maintains a dense shape and a rich green color. Direct sunlight during midday hours can cause burns, so in hot seasons the plant is slightly shaded. In winter, the cactus benefits from cool conditions with reduced watering.

Watering is moderate: the soil is moistened only after the top layer has completely dried out. Stagnant water in the pot is harmful to the roots, so excess moisture is drained from the saucer. During the dormant period, watering is reduced to a minimum and resumed with the onset of active growth.
