Japanese aucuba brings calm and a sense of a well-tended garden to any interior. Its large leathery leaves form a lush crown, and the golden-green spots and speckles on the leaves make the variegated form look like a mosaic. The shoots grow densely, so even a small plant looks full and decorative.

Place the aucuba in a bright spot without direct sun — there the leaf pattern will appear more vivid. A windowsill of an east- or west-facing window, a conservatory, or a spacious hallway will work.
