How to extend the life of a bouquet at home

As soon as the bouquet is home, take a sharp knife or pruners and make a diagonal cut 2–3 cm long on the stems. This increases the cut area, and the flowers absorb water better. Cut the stem under running water or place it in the vase immediately so that air does not enter the conducting vessels. Regular scissors are not suitable for this procedure — they crush the stem.
The parts of the stems submerged in water begin to rot and spoil it. Remove the lower leaves and thorns, if any — this way the bouquet will last noticeably longer.
Replace the water with fresh cool water daily or every two days and rinse the vase. Before each water change, trim the stems by another couple of centimeters — this will extend the freshness of the bouquet. If the set includes flower food, add it according to the instructions.
