Caring for Hydrangeas at Home

Hydrangeas are among the most rewarding flowers if you know a few rules. They love water and coolness. Here's what helps them last longer.

Cut the stems at a sharp angle right after receiving them — this way water rises faster through the vessels. Make a new cut 2–3 cm above the previous one. Hydrangeas have thick stems, so use a sharp knife or pruners, not scissors, to avoid crushing the vessels.

Change the water daily or every two days. Hydrangeas drink a lot, and the level drops noticeably in a day. Stems should be submerged 5–7 cm in water. If the water becomes cloudy, replace it immediately.

Add a little sugar to the vase — a teaspoon per liter. Hydrangeas love sweet water. You can add a few drops of lemon juice or vinegar to keep the water fresh. But don't overdo it: a couple of drops is enough.

Remove any leaves that end up under water. They rot and spoil the water. If the leaves are large, keep only the top ones.

Keep the vase away from direct sunlight, radiators, and drafts, in a cool place. The optimal temperature is around 18–20°C. On a cool night (not below 10°C), you can take the vase out to the balcony.

If the hydrangeas start to droop slightly, don't rush to throw them away. Submerge the flowers completely in a basin of cool water for 30–40 minutes. The stems and blooms will absorb moisture and become firm again. Then trim the stems and place them in fresh water.

Mist the blooms with a spray bottle once a day — hydrangeas love humid air. But do it in the morning so the petals dry by evening.

Don't place hydrangeas near fruit: they release ethylene, which speeds up wilting. Neighboring other flowers can also be unfavorable — it's better to give them a separate vase.

If you received a bouquet in a basket, don't move the flowers immediately. Let them sit in the basket for a few hours if there's a moisture-retaining material. Then transfer to a vase if desired.

Hydrangeas for Different Occasions

Hydrangeas are versatile. They are given for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, graduations, or just because. White hydrangeas are appropriate for formal congratulations and calm interiors. Pink — for romantic moments and warm family celebrations. Mixed — for those who appreciate modern solutions.

You can choose a single flower or a combination. If in doubt, start with the bouquet of 3 white hydrangeas — from £15 or the bouquet of 5 pink hydrangeas — from £25. For a bigger effect — the bouquet of 35 hydrangeas — from £151. Each bouquet is assembled by florists in London, delivered within the city, and photographed before sending. Our goal is the recipient's smile and your peace of mind.

Questions and answers

Can I place an order in advance?
Yes, for any date and time. For February 14, March 8, Nauryz, and graduations, we recommend ordering a few days in advance: popular flowers sell out faster on these dates, and the nearest delivery intervals fill up in the morning.
How long will the bouquet last?
With simple care, a week or longer. Chrysanthemums last the longest, up to two to three weeks; roses — 7–10 days, tulips and hydrangeas — about a week, peonies — 4–6 days: they open quickly. How to extend the life of your bouquet — see the care guide.
How do you ensure freshness?
The flowers are stored in a cold room at +2…+4 °C, deliveries arrive in small batches several times a week, and the bouquet is assembled only after you place your order, so it arrives fresh.
Will the bouquet be the same as in the photo?
We keep the composition, color palette, and size. But fresh flowers vary slightly from batch to batch: the shade of a rose or how open the bud is may differ. That's why we send a photo of your exact bouquet before dispatch.
What if the bouquet is not to their liking?
We send a photo before dispatch to prevent this. If something goes wrong during delivery, we will reassemble the bouquet at our own expense. Terms are on the "Returns and Replacements" page.
Do I need to water the arrangement in the box?
Yes, every two days. The flowers are in a moist floral foam: carefully pour 100–150 ml of water into it without flooding the box. More details in the "Composition in a Box" section.
