How to keep sunflowers at home

Sunflowers have their own temperament. They're large, heavy, and drink a lot of water. First, choose a vase: it should be deep and stable so the heavy stems don't lean to the sides. Sunflowers consume a lot of moisture, so the water volume in the vase should be as large as possible.

Start by refreshing the cut on the stems. We recommend cutting the stems at an angle with a sharp knife, holding them under running water — that way air won't clog the conducting channels. Use a sharp knife, because scissors crush the stem and prevent moisture from rising to the flower.

Pour fresh water daily, or at least every two days. At the same time, rinse the walls of the vase and the stems — slime forms on them and speeds up wilting. If the water starts to smell, it means you should change it more often.
