Red anthurium is a houseplant with large, heart-shaped spathes in a rich scarlet hue. They rise above dense, glossy dark green leaves, creating a striking contrast. The spadix inflorescence completes the look, giving it a tropical appearance. Depending on the variety, the spathes may be pink or white, but the shape remains recognizable.

Place the plant on a windowsill with diffused light or deeper in the room near an east- or west-facing window. Direct sunlight leaves burns on the leaves, so light shading is needed at midday. Anthurium does well at normal room temperature, away from drafts and sudden temperature changes.

Water moderately when the top layer of soil dries out. The water should be soft and warm. Drain excess moisture from the saucer to prevent root rot. Wipe the leaves periodically with a damp cloth. It makes a suitable gift for a housewarming or birthday for those who enjoy indoor gardening.
