Guzmania lingulata will appeal to those who love bright accents in the interior and aren't ready to spend much time on care. Its rosette is made up of dense, strap-like leaves, and at the center a bract opens — red or yellow, depending on the chosen variety. Over time, small flowers appear above it, but the colored part plays the main decorative role.

You can place the plant on a windowsill with diffused light or deeper in the room where soft lighting reaches. Direct sunlight leaves burns on the leaves, so it's better to shade it from a south-facing window during hot hours. Guzmania loves warmth and tolerates drafts poorly, so choose a spot away from open vents and air conditioners.

Water moderately, directing water into the center of the rosette, not into the soil. Keep the soil slightly moist, avoiding water stagnation in the pot. It's suitable as a gift for a housewarming or birthday for houseplant enthusiasts.
