The money tree is a jade plant with thick, fleshy, rounded leaves. They are gathered into neat rosettes and have a rich green hue, often with a slight glossy sheen. Over time, the trunk becomes woody, giving the plant the look of a miniature tree. In a pot 10 cm in diameter and 20 cm tall, it looks compact and fits even on a small windowsill.

It is best to place the jade plant in a bright spot—south- and southeast-facing windows, where there is enough sun, are suitable. With insufficient light, the shoots stretch out and the leaves become smaller. Water moderately, allowing the soil to dry out well between waterings: stagnant moisture harms the roots. In winter, reduce watering, and it is desirable to keep the temperature cool.

The money tree is appropriate to give as a housewarming gift or as a symbolic present for a colleague. Crassula ovata is undemanding and can adorn an interior for years, gradually turning into an impressive plant with a distinctive shape.
