Medinilla magnifica is a striking houseplant with large, leathery leaves in a rich green color. Its main adornment is the hanging panicle inflorescences with pink bracts, from which small flowers open. Over time, berries appear in their place. The shrub spreads wide, so it needs space.

Place the plant in a bright spot without direct sunlight — an east- or west-facing windowsill will do. Water moderately when the top layer of soil dries out, and maintain air humidity. It makes a suitable gift for a housewarming or for a home greenhouse.
