The fruiting olive is an evergreen tree with narrow silvery-green leaves that remain on the branches all year round. Over time, the trunk becomes covered with grey-brown bark and curves slightly, giving the plant a Mediterranean look. With sufficient light, the olive blooms with small creamy flowers, and after pollination it forms fruit.

Place the olive near a south or southwest window — it loves bright light and tolerates direct sunlight well. In summer, the plant can be taken out onto a balcony or terrace, protecting it from drafts. In warm weather, water moderately, letting the top layer of soil dry out; in winter, reduce watering. Drain excess water from the saucer so the roots don't rot.
