The ponytail palm is a plant with a thickened base of the trunk, resembling a bulb or bottle. In this "reservoir" it stores moisture, so it looks dense and substantial. The leaves are narrow, long, gathered in a tuft at the top, bending outward and forming a fountain of greenery. Over time, the trunk becomes like a miniature tree with bark covered in small cracks.

It is best to place the ponytail palm in a bright spot — a windowsill of a south or west window, where there is plenty of sun, will do. In shade, growth slows down, the leaves become pale and stretch out. Water rarely: let the soil dry out completely, then moisten moderately. Stagnant water in the pot is dangerous for the roots, so drainage is essential. In winter, watering is reduced to a minimum.

The ponytail palm is suitable for those who appreciate plants with an expressive shape and are not ready to devote much time to care. It is appropriate as an accent in the interior of a living room or office, and will also be a gift for a lover of indoor trees.
