Trim softened stems and place them in room-temperature water for a few hours. You can cover the bouquet with a paper bag — this creates a greenhouse effect. If the blooms start to dry out, don't throw them away: lavender retains its scent beautifully when dried. Hang the stems upside down in a dark, ventilated place — in two weeks, you'll have a fragrant sachet.
