Common Myrtle

probuket

Common myrtle is a compact evergreen tree with small glossy leaves and thin branches that immediately catches the eye with its neat crown. Depending on the variety, the foliage can be solid green or variegated, with creamy streaks along the edges of the leaves. The plant looks noble and restrained, making it suitable as a housewarming gift or as a token of appreciation for a loved one who values houseplants.

It is best to place the myrtle on a bright windowsill or near a window where it receives soft, diffused light. During hot hours, it should be shaded from direct midday sun to prevent leaf burn. In the warm season, the tree does well at normal room temperature, while in winter it prefers cooler conditions. Water moderately when the top layer of soil has dried, avoiding waterlogging in the pot. Myrtle loves humid air, so it is useful to periodically mist the crown with soft water. Regular pruning helps maintain a neat shape and encourages dense branching.
