The Chilean Araucaria is a striking coniferous tree that will be appreciated by lovers of unusual houseplants and connoisseurs of strict, graphic greenery. Its branches are covered with stiff, scale-like leaves arranged in a spiral, forming neat tiers that give the crown a resemblance to a miniature spruce. Over time, the plant turns into a real tree in a pot, becoming an expressive accent in the interior. Such a gift is appropriate for a housewarming or as a token of gratitude to someone passionate about plants.

It is best to place the Araucaria in a bright spot with bright indirect light, away from direct midday sun. The plant prefers cool conditions and does not tolerate proximity to heating devices, so a windowsill or a glazed loggia will work well. Water moderately when the top layer of soil dries out, using soft, settled water. In winter, reduce watering, and misting the needles helps maintain air humidity. Repot young specimens every couple of years, and mature ones less often, taking care not to damage the roots.
