Care at home: how to make alstroemerias last longer

Alstroemerias delight the eye for a long time, but a few techniques will make that time even longer. Cut the stems at an angle — this way they take up water more actively. For cutting, use a clean knife or scissors that have not been used for paper. Remove the lower leaves from the stems: in water they rot and spoil the look of the whole vase.

Change the water in the vase every two days. When changing the water, rinse the vase and refresh the cut, stepping back a couple of centimetres. But even without that, regular water changes give a noticeable result.

For the vase, choose a place away from sun, drafts, and radiators — alstroemerias do not tolerate temperature changes.
